Abstract

Introduction

The twentieth century has probably witnessed greater strides in practically every sphere of human endeavour than any century before it. In the technological sphere, the level, degree and quantum of advancement have been so much that the average person has become virtually dazed by the enormity of achievements by mankind, particularly since the end of the second world war in 1945.

The advent of almost unbelievable technological feats in the second half of this century is being rounded up towards its end by the current incredible strides in space and computer technology.

The business environment has also witnessed developments which must have been thought impossible at the beginning of the century. In this sphere, the world has become a global village as a result of cross-border business transactions of almost unimaginable proportions in an incredibly short space of time.

Professionalism in different skills, has become so profound and pronounced that the challenges now facing the average professional in various fields compel him to be more adaptive, creative and innovative if he is not to be left behind in the scheme of things.

All of these amazing developments have naturally and logically brought into focus the tremendous possibilities that lie ahead of mankind in the 21st century which, incidentally, and perhaps significantly, is the beginning of a new millennium.

The topic of my paper, namely “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: The Hot Button of the 21st century lawyer” requires some clarification before I move on to the main part of the paper which, as will later be seen, has been described as the heart of the subject.
