Abstract

The age long recognition by the law of the concept of Corporate Entity as an artificial person is no longer in doubt. What has emerged over time is how the law has defined the concept to serve specific purposes, business and non-business alike. This paper examined the concept on propriety or otherwise for entities to undertake such social ventures and their being equipped to play such role. This paper examined the meaning, etymology, features, types, social rationale, and legal framework on ground for them to deliver on social services. The findings from all perspectives shows that corporate entities have all the potentials, legal and social to carry out social economic responsibilities in Nigeria, voluntarily and legally.
