Abstract

Introduction

The Chief Justice of Nigeria- The Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed recently in a statement released by his media adviser- Ahurakah Isah, alleged that the Bar was aiding corruption on the Bench through the action of some senior lawyers who obtain orders against the Bench in matters pertaining to the discipline of judicial officers.1

There is also the general perception that due to the lack of adequate self regulation and effective machinery for the discipline of lawyers, most of the issues causing delays in the administration of justice in Nigeria may not be satisfactorily resolved, until the NBA puts in place effective machinery for the discipline of lawyers/self regulation.
