E-Lawyering: Some Trends and Lessons From The USA

Abstract

This article explores and investigates some emerging trends in e-lawyering in the United States (US). It concludes that from the consumerist perspective, in a near future in Nigeria, legal services consumers just like in the US may abandon traditional legal services of some 'inflexible' Nigerian lawyers for cheaper, more efficient and quicker services offered online through 'self-help' legal written materials, softwares, templates and forms. Consequently, many 'traditionally unchanged' lawyers may be redundant and that this is now the wake up time for lawyers interested in the future of legal practice.
